Funding & Support
Increasing financial pressure is a reality faced by all learning institutions. Catering for learners with special needs places an even greater demand on both the institution and the parents. At Vista Nova we strive to provide the best possible education, care and rehabilitation facilities to our learners whilst never turning away any learner due to their parents’ inability to pay school fees.
The reality is that if Vista Nova is to continue to provide a high quality education and expand its capacity whilst remaining accessible in terms of annual fees, a significant amount of additional funding is required. This creates a huge demand for financial assistance and/or donations from the private sector.
The school has two avenues through which we attempt to make up this shortfall:
Fundraiser
The Governing Body employs a full time fundraiser who raises funds from private sector Corporate Social Investment opportunities and by approaching various Foundations.
Friends of Vista Nova
Friends of Vista Nova is a registered, non-profit and public benefit organisation (NPO no. 039-815-NPO and PBO no. 930 017 222) whose sole function is to raise funds for Vista Nova School. Their NPO and PBO status allows Friends of Vista Nova to provide donors with a tax directive against the amount donated.
First established in 2005, the organisation manages a wide range of funding opportunities such as coin collections and benefit concerts as well as large scale events such as an annual auction and the challenging annual Cadiz Freedom Swim from Robben Island to Blouberg Beach. The Swim was founded by the school a number of years ago and attracts large crowds with SA Olympic swimmer Natalie du Toit, a patron of the school, being a regular participant (and victor!)
The organisation has one full time staff member and relies heavily on parental and volunteer support for its fundraising efforts.
Friends of Vista Nova would be pleased to receive all donations, in cash or kind, big or small, which will allow them to continue to support the outstanding efforts of Vista Nova School.
